The Old Glade Brewery in downtown Glade Spring, a favorite among the locals is set to expand into the former Political Dogs building to open an expanded venture featuring local BBQ.
The repurposed space will allow patrons to enjoy owner and operator Tim Winslett’s craft brew concoctions, and also to enjoy some delicious BBQ.
Winslett, an information technologist by day and a brewer by night is working to install the new smoker and to put all the pieces into place to open the adjoining space to form the Old Glade Tap & Smokehouse.
“We moved to Glade Spring three weeks before the tornado hit in 2011. “We saw the way the community pulled together. Everyone helped each other and we found out how lucky we are to live in this place. Glade Spring was the natural choice,” he said.
Winslett’s business came during a wave of revitalization efforts in downtown Glade Spring that is continuing to evolve today.
“My main goal in addition to making the business successful is to complement other businesses in the town square. If every store draws its own followers, I’m hoping that will spread throughout the square.”
The business is hopeful to open its doors in November of 2015 pending any final details.
