Work has begun at The Point. The old structure leading into the Town Square has been demolished to make room for new construction. When finished, the new building will be the home to Glade Spring Farmers Market, as well as the Pavilion – a stage and space for community events.
“For years, the farmers market has set up rain or shine out in the open,” said Chillys Case, founding member of the market. “Now we’ll have a roof over our heads and can more easily function as a three-season market. We’re excited at what the space will offer both our vendors and our customers.”
Once the town contractually assigns the job, work will begin at the site and continue throughout the fall and winter.
“The goal is to have the new building occupied on April 1,” said Vice Mayor Nancy Williams. “This project has been a long process over several years, and it’s exciting to see things finally happening and to know what a benefit the finished product will be to the town.”
